good points... but curious about the following; under normal conditions I wonder what the thoughts of of using a candle or the kenyon stove ( or any open flame) below with the batteries also below... I also worry if I had 9inches of water inthe cabin.. I would think I would REALLY need my batteries ...

The OEM cushions did have durable vynil on the bottom, I did the same with sunbrella on top... if you go the plywood method -- be sure and use stainless steel or alum staples!

THANKS! I am in the water and the OB is too heavy to remove at this point .. so this will be Fall job..thanks! BTW - anyone with a Suzuki DF9.9 can tell me how to LOCK the prop down in the tilt position in the water ..mine keeps jumpin' out of the water when I put it in reverse.... there is a latch ...

Hmm... I have not had this done in a few years... I have the Suzuki 9.9... how tough (long-time wise) a job is this.. any special tools? I have the shop manual but when it said to remove the lower unit.. I kinda passed on the job for a while.....

funny.. i have the tiller version and am installing the remote set-up in the cockpit..

I have used the OB tiller for close quarter maneavers... it is still tricky and takes some practice..

I also list to port and trying to figure the better battery location as well.. no solution yet and to make it more complicated, I want to run two batteries.. this initial decision of battery location is stalling my overall wiring project ;-)

I have the suzuki as well.. I use the OEM tiller on the OB. I am planning a simple OB tiller extension -- either from west marine or a simple thing made with PVC pipe so I don't have to hang over the stern..

CAREFUL... don't rely on that hinge for any stability at all! it will at best jsut fail and snap and then the mast will run free OR worst transfer the torque to the mast step and cause you a VERY SERIOUS fiberglass repair problem.. I don't use a hinge for this very reason.. I don't trust myself..sin...

anyone fit a radaome on their c-26?

I sail in foggy , busy shipping lanes... so I snagged a raymarine 18" 2kw radome and c80rc display.... So.... I have two immediate questions... 1) where to mount the radome... I thought a dedicated stern mounted pole/mast OR a mount onthe backstay... The boat yard insisted that it should go up ...

Once upon a time I used a OEM chrysler OB metal 6 gal tank.. just shoehorned in... but.. it was heavy and it rusted bad -- dangerously so.. ( from the bottom..) I would never reccomend putting a metal gas can in a closed (wet!) lazerette. I purchased a brand new -- real nice -- suzuki metal tank but...

Really like the traveller set-up and ...am I mistaken or do I see a home engineered boom "support" ...looks really clever and no need for teh head aches of the topping lift and no worries when running the loose foot dropping the boom... sweet!
