Just saw a really nice looking 26 for sale in Hollywood Fla on eBay it has a trailer and looks to be in great condition. If anyone is looking for one this might be worth having it delivered as the currant bid is jus 305.00 . On another note my wife and I just returned from our trip to Sequim Wa . We...

Heating

I am heading up to Sequim WA next week to work on our cabin rental and hopefully complete several projects on our C 26. Assuming :) all goes well my wife and I will also get in a little cruising. I was wondering what others are using for heating. I have a radiant heater that is propane powered and a...

Re: I did it! I bought a boat today.

B&G The only oil burning in your 2 stroke is what you mixed in the gas . Make sure you do mix in the oil or you will have very poor boat anchor. Ratios vary greatly in range. Older outboards routinely used 100 to 1 ratios until the epa got involved. Now I believe most engines are using 50 to 1. ...

Re: I did it! I bought a boat today.

B & G Clinger There is no problem storing an outboard on it's side just be sure to store it on the side indicated by the label it should have on the cowel. A bit of smoke when first starting is normal for a 4 stroke stored on it's ide. Storing a 2 stroke on either side will make no difference as...

Re: What is this?

Dear issue 94 Congrats on your purchase and hope you Enjoy your Chrysler. I believe that pocket is a receiver for an auto pilot or could be used for a tiller extension to hold a course. The pilot is a most likely answer however. Post pictures of your boat if you get the chance, we all enjoy pictures...

Deck gear installation question

I'm looking for a little information on installing a bow roller, anchor windlass and some deck cleats. My c26 is in Washington and I'm in CO so I don't have access to the boat except for short times each year. I try to have every thing ready for marathon improvements whenever I get up there. Can any...

Re: Hole in boat

Bill, I've just finished cutting an 8' fiberglass sabot pram in half to make it a nesting dinghy . I tabbed in wood bulkeds with glass mat, I don't think it will ever come apart . I also had to shorten the width of the dagger board well and patch a 2" thick x 1" x 2" hole in the keel ...

Re: Hole in boat

Bill, Why not just fill the hole with fiberglass? This is a very easy cheap repair if you can pull the boat. All the materials are available at your local auto parts or paint store. I could suggest the procedure but they are available from experts on utube. The actual repair can be done in about an ...

Re: Installing Transom Ladder

Hi James, It's best if you install some reinforcement behind the supports to spread the load. You can likely get away without it in the short term but eventually the fiberglass will start with spiderweb cracks around the bolts. A good example is to look at improperly mounted staunchness. Don't forge...

Re: New C22 Fixed Keel

Being in S. California should make it easy to find good used equipment. I've used Minny's Yacht salvage for 1 or 2 items of equipment. They have a website but you have to go to their store or call because their inventory is so large they don't even attempt to list it. I don't know if they would have...

Rudder modification

#2 picture shows the rudder with the wts in place before sealing with epoxy and glassinf with cloth. There was also some leading edge damage that some PO had repaired with bondo. The stock rudder is fiberglass over foam. Except for the small bit of damage at the tip this rudder was in good condition...

#1,#3pictures are more of the electric panel. #2 Repaired rudder with ablative antifowling paint. The first time I took the boat out I had signifagant trouble with the rudder when the down line came loose and the rudder floated up in spite ofthe line being secured in a line clutch. When I pulled out...

Re: sailing on the san juan straits

Thanks for the reply Captain Scott. It sounds like the winds are fickle there as anywhere else. I've purchased an older computer with built in gps for use as a chart plotter . When sailing last summer I was surprised to see some shallows in very unexpected places so intend to be very vigilant as to ...

sailing on the san juan straits

I was wanting to ask those familiar with the straits what kind of conditions to expect when sailing (wind). My wife and I have built a small cabin near John Wayne marina and finally got to do some sailing this past July/August. Whenever we've been up there in the past it always seemed to be blowing ...
