The photo is as I found her... I like your terminology of a blank canvas... but as fate would have it I'm a slow painter. You sound like you really know your sailboats you as others on this forum are and can be a real asset to those of us relatively new to this game. My number of posts only confirms...

Unless it's just something you truly want to do I would pass and like Bob said shop for something not needing so much work. You will get the kids out on the water faster and in the long run may even save a few dollars. If only I had understood this concept myself back in the day. Terrence Wil...

Steve... a C26 with trailer will make any of our hearts skip a beat. I was very much in your shoes back in the day. Often older sailboats are like icebergs problems are out of sight. If this is all new to your as it was for me I really didn't at first know what I was looking at. Offer him $1000 and ...

I think I'll keep it...

I think I'll keep it (1973 22' Oday shoal draft keel). Sorry it's not a Chrysler, but I feel it will be a good platform to learn and play on in the shallower lakes close to home, while continuing my work on the C26. The owner was moving and let it go at a price even I could not let pass. http://i857...

Thanks guys... I'm really not all work and no play, the keel itself is good just needs a bit of work and a paint job. It's the shoes that may give me trouble and if the shoes come off the keel will automatically follow.

A great day on the water.

Clair and Kay Hofmann have come down to Merritt N.C. for a few weeks and were gracious enough to invite me and the wife up on the weekend. Clair and I spent the morning out on the water in what they call their 22' venture south. Back home they have a sister ship call 22' venture north. The commander...

Overlook the mess... It's past time for me to clean shop again. This is a photo of my little friends; I'm in the process of reworking the old boat stands that came with my C26. I'm sure they will be useful as I contemplate getting it off the trailer. In this day and time I'm truly pushing the elasti...

This PNM can catch you off guard real quick... I felt with just my C26 I was safe, but having to add my two 17' canoes has pushed me into the advanced stage and if I find me a smaller sailboat to play with... I'll really be in deep. Here is my two cents worth. Most of the people looking for a sailboat want something ready to go with most of the bells/whistles of today's sailing already in place. 30+ year old Chryslers most often don't fit that bill. The one I'm restoring came with little to nothing on the way to the glue factor...

A little advice needed here....

I've been looking for a smaller sailboat relatively cheap to play with while I work on my C26. This Siren 17' sailboat popped up in fairly rough condition... but as long as it sails... oh well. What has got me nervous is a little something the owner calls a dent, that he states has given him no trou...

Alan The finish is just the outcome of a lot of sanding, two coats of primer and two coats of topside paint. If you are referring to the photo in my last post about insulation or dampeners, it is only two or three coats of old paint covered by layers of old nasty mold. This section looks a bit bette...

When one speaks of the ice chest locker most are referring to the first covered section in this photo, the front section is not in place that encloses this part.

Good question KeyWest... I too will be crossing this bridge at some point on my C26. I've seen some of the C26 sailors build a small extension on the original motor mount to accommodate tilt problems. The old ugly box you spoke of was most likely a P.O's attempt to do the same. If you are not going ...
