Hey Bobsled, Welcome and don't give up the ship. I towed my 22 to North Carolina from New Jersey last summer with my Lexus RX. It is a six cylinder and the boat towed great without any problem. I had plenty of power to get up hills in Penn and W Virginia on the way home and at times I was driving ab...

Hey Bill, Welcome. I am a novice sailor, although a veteran boater. I have had the 22 for about a year and it truly is a great boat to learn on. I don't know why Chrysler, or the later owners, couldn't keep this line in production. But, at least the used ones are available. If you get a decent price...

Clair,

I agree on the SEAFOAM product. I have used it for years in just about every engine I have. I get it when it on sale at Advance Auto so it
isn't such a bad price overall.

Happy sailing. Jeff

Peter,

Way to go on the donation. I gave Boat Angel my old San Juan 21 last year and they sold it to someone here in NC. It went to a marina across from the original Clark Boat Works where it was built in 1976. Karma!

Also good choice on the college vrs the boat.

Regards, Jeff

Hey Scott, Congrats on 'pulling the trigger' on a fantastic sailboat. Although I have a lot of boats, only one other is a sailboat and it is 13ft. So when i was able to find the 22 I also jumped on it. It is a fun and trustworthy sailboat capable of providing lots of fun. I don't have much advice on...

WOW! That was scary. I didn't know what to do with myself while the site was down. Please don't do that to me ever again. Seriously, glad the site was only disrupted and not deleted.

3M makes a product (can't remember what they are called) that sticks to many surfaces and includes a hook, hanger, etc. When you are done with it, you stretch the adhesive part and it comes off without leaving any sticky residue. I have used them in the past and have left them in place for several y...

Skype is good but check out the Google services for Google Talk, etc. They always seem to have the best. Also, TOKBOX is an online communication service. Jeff

Frozen lake! Yikes! The only ice I want to see anymore is in the bottom of my glass. Getting older I guess. The lake here is still pretty nice and I went out for a short time today. Not much wind so I cut it shorter. Hopefully we'll have some nice Fall winds as the weather is great.

Hey all. Thanks for the help. I don't know what I was thinking, but surely i would have thought of a long extension for my socket after a while??? Maybe I am just getting old. Thanks for the tips. Jeffrey, don't suppose you remember what size socket you used? I could go on a scavenger hunt but it would be quicker if I knew what size to starrt with. Seems like Chrysler designer would have done something a bit different with the design to have better access to the back of t...

Backstay brackets

I have a '76' C22 and the split backstay brackets are pulling loose from the top of the transom. I have tried to get the stainless screws out and they are very loose but just keep turning. Has anybody replaced the stay mounts in the back and what did you do? Is there anything of reasonable strength ...

Just wanted to post my new member status. I bought a '76' Sandpiper 22 a couple of months ago, feel like I got a great deal on a great sailboat, and have been learning to sail. Not much experience yet but I am picking it up. I am on Lake Norman in North Carolina, a good place to learn and have some ...
