What you see is Monte has cut out the sole right where the steps land. So the wall at the top is that little bulkhead under the companionway and behind the steps. The bump you see at the bottom of the pic is where the keel pocket ends after it disappears into the sole behind the winch stand. As you ...

Oh, wow, sorry to hear that...I'd suggest checking ebay and a few used sails sites to see what similar sized sails are going for. The reality, of course, the actual worth of your sails are whatever somebody is willing to pay, and you are willing to accept. But checking on these sites might help get ...

Bob, on a C26, the vertical area in front of the forward hatch where the cabin drops at the foredeck, it was small honeycomb like filler up there as well. EE has delamination around portlights (between inner and outer skin) and it seems the same filler was in there, but has withered away from leaks....

I plumbed it to the galley sink drain. This puts the bilge pump intake at about the same level as the cabin sole, so it isn't terribly useful for draining the depths of the bilge. I just wanted something that might buy me a few minutes if I had an emergency with the keel cable tube. We had the same...

I recently bought a new 6.5 oz loose foot main with 2 reef points and class logo for the ComPac23 and worked with Dirk Sharland with National Sails/Rolly Tasker. Probably outsourced overseas but..... Price was good for me at $630, he said 3 to 5 weeks, I ordered on 12/3/16, it shipped on 12/28, had ...

There is a bulkhead from sole to hull just behind the Keel winch stand. It contains the concrete ballast pour. (Actually on EE and Aislin Girl 1 there was about an inch of space between the sole and the bulkhead, which has a nasty consequence of water getting forward under the ply sole and rotting i...

Re: Bilge access on a '79 26'?
Hello all... This is my second 26' and I "seem to recall" that there was an access plate under the companion way steps to get to the bilge. No real access plate there at the actual foot of the steps, unless one was added later - however by removing the panel under the stern berth you will...

We are wet slipped, and use a single deep cycle battery charged via shore power into a 'NOCO Genius GENM1 4 Amp 1-Bank Waterproof Smart On-Board Battery Charger'. No solar power, but boat is mostly a day sail use, probably never be more than an overnighter.. Might add another battery and solar later...

....well...I made a grappling drag with 4 storage hooks from the blue hardware store and my swimming pool cleaning pole. And on the first drag alongside the boat I snagged and retrieved the missing side stay in 8 feet of water !! So 2 new retaining rings somehow got loose, and she went overboard. Cr...

I'm inclined to agree. We had a day of buffeting high winds, and there are scratches on the mast. I probably missed something in rigging, the lower end got loose, and whipped around till it pinched and broke the retaining ring at the upper end and it's all in the water. Oh well 121.75 to Hutc...

A bit of oddness..
..checked on the Compac 23 at the harbor today, and found the starboard rear lower shroud missing. Gone. Nothing but the tang on the mast and the chain plate on the deck left. I'm not sure what's wierder, thinking somebody climbed the mast, stole a shroud, or wondering how the cotter rings top and b...

All of the keel mounting bits seem to be on the outside of the c20. I see the pivot bolt and three bolts holding another chunk of cast iron to the molded keel. I'm contemplating trying to remove the whole thing. The C20 keel shoe/bolt is very similar (if not the same as) the C26. Here's an article ...

Sad to read but I completely understand your decision; after the recent knee surgery, and over a decade of aging after I first bounded forward solo on EE's foredeck, I have come to about the same point in sailing. Not even sure the ComPac 23 is do-able, but we are outfitting her with all the 'old gu...

I can relate; once got a Coronado C15 stuck like that after sailing to close to shore and getting blown onto some rocks. I left the main up and the keel up, but made sure I was paddling dead upwind so it just luffed like crazy until I got deep enough to drop the centerboard, and far out enough to tu...

Welcome Aboard ! Yes, the rudder setup is a pain, even when all is smooth between the lines, the rollers, and inside the cheeks, its an odd angle to get any force going. If the motor is one of the OEM Chrysler Sailors, and is electric they'll be a couple of good sizes wires exiting the motor just be...
