Thanks, it sounds like sanding with only hand pressure (no sander) the 60 grit should work ok, I'll keep the 80 grit as a stand by. I have a mask but will need a suit, just what little bit I sanded by hand had dust flying everywhere. No I have not lost my mind thinking I'll just sand the whole botto...

I was thinking of doing a little hand sanding of the bottom to get a feel of the old paints condition and type. Along with locating the defects (old blisters and the like), being only a preliminary sanding by hand would 60 grit sandpaper be permissible or should I stay with 80 grit or above? Terrenc...

The screws on my 1980 C26 are on the outside, I like what Bill did to his C22 did away with the frame altogether. At the moment I lack the courage and the skill to go that route... the deadlights on the 1980 model are just so big.

I did not need to remove the above in my 1980 C26, just a number of old layers of paint. Just a thought on the matter... there are a number of wallpaper remover chemicals out there perhaps one could help move things along for you.

Bruce All of the Chrysler sailboats are good old boats, but if you have the time and money cast your eye upon the C26.
