When I bent my cheek plates, I gave the assembly to a buddy that does auto body work. He got it almost straight. He commented, he got to use all his big hammers  As for backing up...I have started flipping my rudder around 180 when reversing. This takes the torque off the tiller from the prop...

Great sailing on the 4th! Logged 14 NM with a average speed of 4.9 knots. The winds where very consistent in the 15 to 18 range (no gusting) AND best of all.. due to high water the entire St Croix is a no wake zone 8) Bad for power boaters but great for sailing :D Usally the power boaters don't give...

Don't forget to close your seacock!
In my "excitement of going sailing" Sunday, I forgot to close my galley sink seacock  ...where is all this water coming from? :? As long as we can bail it out faster than it's coming in, where cool 8) (as we are on a starboard tack) Back on a port tack...where is all this water comin...

I agree with the rule of thumb is 10-15% of trailer weight on the tongue. But to be honest, (at least in my case) the C22 sitting flat on it's stock trailer bunks would be hard pressed to to get to the 500-750lbs tongue weight. Not to hi-jack this string, but it would be interesting to know what oth...

Here is another variant. Since I use my mast to support the tarp during the winter I trimed the bracket to not chafe the tarp, also added a mid-mast support that slides into the mast step. http://i929.photobucket.com/albums/ad138/rbakersacres_photos/Sailboat/th_IMG_0381.jpg http://i929.photobucket.c...

I have a Uniden Depth Meter with a in-hull transducer (no hole) that I mounted as far forward and as close to center line in the forward dinette sette as possible. Looks much like this, but mounted in a sleeve that allows you to level the transducer on the angled hull; http://www.westmarine.com/weba...

I did a complete lower unit rebuild on my Sailor 280 (same lower unit as 250) seals, bearing shift throw out thingy. Not a hard job just take your time. Make sure you check the little needle roller bearing that is up high in the lower unit, just under the water pump. If the motor was ran without the...
