Tough to help you out with such limited info, DVD. Your set-up is likely different from most of the rest, not much standardization left in boats this old. Your best bet is to trace out each wire to determine it's load and voltage source. 12-volt DC wire is pretty simple, assuming you have basic elec...

Strange, but the best buy I've found for these is at our local Lowe's! They have a box of them in the middle of an aisle for about $10 each. Moral of the story: Keep your eyes peeled, even on the hard.

Here's the rig I used and a shot of what the keel looks like. Note the keel pin hole: http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc470/mcrandall1/KeelAfter.jpg I did the "lift the boat" option. I assume your boatyard has a travel lift. Have you asked them if they can lift your boat? Not too busy ...

Actually, the radiation pattern is more like a donut, with the antenna whip standing in the "hole". Now, depending on the gain of your antenna, your pattern varies. The theoretical radiation pattern of a zero gain antenna is a perfect sphere. A perfect example of this type of antenna does ...

The starboard settee is loaded with a spray-in type foam. Mine was swamped causing the boat to list significantly. I cut the settee open and removed all the foam. Boat leveled right out. I haven't opened any other area, but I suspect there is more foam up forward of the bulkhead on the starboard sid...

I agree on the electrical switch vice mechanical for your bilge. That idea satisfies my EET training/experience as well! On the AC-DC bonding issue, galvanic isolation is be considered, naturally. However, I believe the intent of bonding the two grounds are as follows: If you lose that AC "safe...

Yellow is DC return. Black is suitable as well, but the industry is trying to migrate to a yellow DC return. Some duplex boat wire is made with red and yellow inner insulation. Tim is correct on the bilge pumps. Dave, the automatic ones get away from using a float switch by regularly testing the wat...

A switch (1, 2, 1+2, Off) or (On/Off) is a good idea as a means to shut down your power source from the rest of your boat quickly in case of an emergency. Also, ABYC requires fuse or breaker protection near (7-inches) the batteries. The intent of this requirement is to protect you and your boat from...

Thickened epoxy will hold the board you build to mount your batteries to. Rough-up the gel coat to get a good bond. You'll need heat enough for it to kick, if it's too cold it will never go. Moisture in the air can eventually spoil one of the components.

Yep! Others may disagree, but pumping into a self bailing cockpit makes should be fine.

The area under the cockpit is known as the coffin. Climb under there and see if you don't agree that it is aptly named!

Others have commented on bilge locations, but the coffin is quite a ways upground of the boats lowpoint, near the keels hingepin.
