Good story Scott. My first sailing experience came when I was 17. A friend of mine belonged to the Junior Yacht Club and asked me if I would like to go out on a sailboat. He didn't have to ask twice. When the day came, I was too excited to eat breakfast. That was a mistake. We drove to the Yacht Clu...

Thanx for the tee handle suggestion Scott...I saw that Greg also has some tee handles made from 3/4 inch conduit. I will definitely make a pair of handles for my lines too...I have a little left over mahogany that should look great.

I have decided to go with 5/16 inch lines for raising and lowering the rudder. My IdaRudder has a groove for the raising line that will accommodate 5'16 line and the holes where the line feeds thru to the pocket for dead ending in the rudder are drilled for 5/16. I placed the rudder in the bathtub a...

Before I asked the question I had already boughten two seven foot long pieces of 1/4 inch StaSet, which should be plenty strong for the purpose. I have the IdaRudder replacement rudder on my boat and the groove for the rope on it would accommodate 5/16 at largest. The 1/4 inch seems to fit nicely in...

Thanx for the feedback Scott...I believe that we both have the same motor and Garelick mount as I recall from previous postings that you made concerning that. I was a little disappointed that the motor didn't go down further, but I followed the Garelick instructions to a tee. I also was a little dis...

Boat work...

Rebuilt my mast truck and fabricated a top platform for the all around light and the Davis Windex...also mounted the 9.8 Tohatsu outboard. The pictures show the motor in the full down position. It has a slight downward trim angle but that is all the adjustment available. Comments appreciated concern...

snap shackles and mast gate

How many are using snap shackles to attach jib sheet blocks to toe rail and how many use a mast gate to prevent sail slugs from coming out of mast when sail is lowered? I have nice Harken blocks for the jib sheets but need to attach them to the toe rail and reposition them for sail shaping. How stro...

Jib sheet rigging.

Who and how is everyone attaching sheeting blocks to the toerail for the jib? Since I haven't even sailed my boat yet I need to know if I should get some snap shackles to attach the swivel blocks to the toerail so I can move them fore and aft to achieve proper sail shape and angle.

I replaced the electric brake assemblies on my original factory C22 trailer last summer. It was cheaper to buy the whole assembly ( Husky 10" electric drum brakes ), than to buy parts and try to repair with the existing back plate. I don't know what size your trailer takes, but they come in sta...

I know that the OEM traveler was pretty much useless as it was. The rollers were lousy and even though it was set up with blocks and cleats I would not trust it to function properly. I also would not trust that the rollers would not crumble under the strain. The cost for a complete new Harken set up...
