Nice! I've laid awake thinking along similar lines for my project boat. Great minds thinking alike?? I was thinking a pulley system to raise and lower tho... Remote start and gear shift, and a steering system also. It would be a ways over the transom to reach when in the water. At the rate I going i...

I agree too! That is plenty of water to sail and get to know everything about your boat! Close to home so you have plenty of time to raise an lower the mast without feeling rushed, and still have hours on the lake. Our lake may be larger, but we spend most our time day sailing, not more than 5 or 6 ...

If you fab a new, and improved version, I would be interested in getting one also if for a C-22. I could keep the repaired one as a spare...

I have both...

The topping lift also runs through a pulley at the mast head and base to a clam cleat in the cockpit so I can raise the boom up high at anchor. I use the one on the back stay in the slip, or overnighters, to keep it from swingin sideways.

There's sayin skydivers, and pilots have,, "better to be on the ground, wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishin you were on the ground."

Been a few times I shoulda done what you did, an exactly as stated, you don't wont to scare future rail meat!!

Tied up woorks fine,

Do it asap, or at the dock if possible. Flake the main on top of the boom and tie tight front and back. The ones in between should be snug but dont strees them...
IMHO

Have fun!

Safety first  How big is the jib? How many reef points in the main an are you set up to reef already? Putting in a reef can make a huge differance for sure, start that way an see how it goes, Than add the jib, if thats too much drop it. Keep your eye's up wind and be ready when the gusts come....

IMHO, A small hole? It's just as easy to patch a 1/2" hole as a 1/4, and I would sand all of the repair area again also, so drill bigger ones and rock the boat, jack up the front, then the rear, change the drain angle somewhat. My C-22 an project 27 both had water trapped in places that never w...

YA!

Johns' answer is the simplest way to get on the water. Most the weight is at the start of the raise, once it's up a way's it gets easier... You could still use the bridles and tie to the mast to stabilize it side to side at the start...

It is heavy though so get some young strong backs!

That bites! My Catalina project came with tripod system. A 6-8 inch wheel sheave at the top allows you to pass a cable/rope over top. The sides are anchored to the toe rail, by the shrouds, and at the forestay anchor, attaching it at the aft hole the jib tack would go in, or, at the forward cleat. I...

Dave, I have that saturday off, and a new car, so I may just drive up and say howdy.
