[quote="sealady"]Actually my husband made a mast raiser and we love it. Makes putting the mast up so easy. (tkes all the arguing out of it) lol My main concern was not having a mast that was too heavy....(heavier than the original mast) Love this forum....kind of glad I needed the info...n...

I got started late. In my first job after Law School I worked for The City Law Department. My boss and his father had a sailboat , about 24 feet, they kept out in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn. He took every Friday off in the summer to go sailing with his Dad and he would invite 2 or 3 of us each week ...

The Buona Fortuna, ... "good luck." My Aunt gave hubby and I a peice of kitchen tchotkes which was a plaque with the the phrase on it. He liked it and said why don't we name the new boat that. It worked out well since we only ALMOST sank her two weeks after the first launch. The prior name...

Scott,

We have a 7.5 Merc Long Shaft. We can get hull speed with the throttle at about 3/4's. Our bigger problem has always been that in the chop we usually experience in the LI Sound the prop gets exposed. We lowered the motor mount as much as possible and shift weight aft to aleviate the issue.

We cover her with tarp. It makes the spring clean up easier. Just make sure the bow is up so the cock pit drains if anything gets under the tarp.

Mine is in about the same condition as yours, but seems to be a good solid boat. I was also very interested in your mast stepping changes, as I am deathly afrai...

We replaced that piece with what I think was a flag pole socket with a rectangular base, obtained at west marine. Drilled a hole through it and the spreader and threaded a screw and nut. The bracket was attached to the mast with four screws. Guy at West came up with the idea. Three seasons and not a...
