First , thankfully everyone is safe. Have you any idea what failed, the pin or the bracket, have you been able to get in to remove the acess plate? It has always been my biggest fear that the keel would fail underway. We lost the cable once while sitting on the mooring and the keel swinging back pun...

Our original stand was pretty gnarly when we got her. It had been submerged in water for a while. I always thought a length of PVC might work, but never tetsed he theory.

Re: Splashed Lady Di last night!

However there is no tongue extension. I was concerned my little Ford Explorer might not get her deep enough at the launch! We had a similar issue. our launch ramp has a very gentle slope and with the Rube Goldberg trailer mods we made she sat high. We used tow straps to drop her deep enough, but it...

Well we got her home. No real adventures in transit to report except if you count the fact that we drove through Manhattan on the way back because the G. Wwashington Bridge was backed up. We were quite a sight crossing Manhattan to the Midtown Tunnel. On inital inspection she is in very good shape. ...

It looks good,BUT it is not a Chrysler, an you in for a lot of up keep. An you are not going to be a happy sailer, you now have a com-water boat. Get in big water, you will wish you had your 22, look at my C-20 as a day sailer. We've owned a wooden boat before, one that my husband built, so we know...

Fran, looks great in the pic, any idea what she is ? When I picked up my giveaway Rhodes Bantam I was hoping it was wooden, but was a later 'glass model. More pics when you pick her up ? I'll bring the camera. We think its home built. The guy we bought it from used it for lake sailing, from the loo...

Re: Our New Toy

She's been out of the water for several years, always a concern with a wooden boat, but we will splash her on Sunday and see if she is water tight. Fran, My husband and I have a large wooden boat, and you will be amazed at the difference in the ride of a wooden boat vs fiberglass. One piece of advi...

Our New Toy

As reported, we are not splashing the C-22 this year and are actively trying to find a buyer. In the interim we found a new toy: http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s15/sailorgirlnyc/th_newboat1.jpg . 17 feet, wooden, trailer included (great now we have three trailers!) we pick her up on Saturday. An...

The trailer is a single axle not big enough for your boat. As for paint we were going to use Interlux brightsides. There is a site called Jamestown Distributors which contains step by step instructions for prep and painting. came to about $200 for the paint and prep supplies. Thanks for the refernce...

We have mixed feelings as well. The marina refunded our mooring fee, so at least we are not out anything. We keep her on a trailer in the driveway so no storage fees. If we did undertake this repiar we talked about really making a true refurb and committing to this boat for the duration. For now we ...

We are putting our C-22 up for sale

What is it they say about boats, holes, money and water... well it came true for us big time today. Our weekend project was to paint the hull above the water line. Did all the research, got good advice here, purchased all the supplies, spent hours cleaning, sanding and prepping. Had some time waitin...

Welocme aboard. Capt. Scott's step by step instructions with photos are invaluable. Don't worry, just set up the bridles and lines and its not difficult. We installed a hinged mast step which we believe will take alot of the "pucker" factor out of it. :-)
