Re: THE Pirateer thread - conversation

Or are you looking to try and buy one? Unless Chrysler added a vang in later models, the g...

So this Pirateer has been frustrating/disappointing/challenging. Finding compatible parts No hiking strap No deck block Poor documentation So decided to take drastic measures. Re: Privateer
So, it may have been the least expensive, but it was still huge!
Sadly, the boom block isn't removable, not without removing rivets, not something I wanted to do.
So I took drastic measures and customized my pirateer.- Thu Jul 28, 2022 10:18 am

Re: THE Pirateer Thread
Mainsheet My pirateer didn't come with a cam cleat on the boom block. This is what the rigging looks like: as_is_mainsheet.jpg Tie the mainsheet off at the becket of the aft boom block w/ becket, down through the traveller block, back up to the aft boom block then to the fore boom block, tie off the...

Re: Well that's a problem Pirateer tiller extension
I worked it out. I have a Laser that I bought last year (super fun boat), but the aging tiller snapped while I was out on the lake. So made a new one with a hockey still (so Canadian, I know eh:?) hockeystick-tiller.jpg And my father-in-law gave me his old tiller, which is a beautiful stained wood t...

Re: THE Pirateer Thread
I happened to have a twist shackle so I used that instead of the block (which I'll save for some other use)
This is my solution: Here's an alternate view:

Re: THE Pirateer Thread
The outhaul When I got my Pirateer it was missing a few parts, so I've had to improvise. The documenation on rigging the outhaul is very difficult to understand and the pictures, at least in my copy of the manual or pretty much useless. It seems that they instruct us to use a D shackle to secure th...

THE Pirateer thread - conversation
I've recently acquired a Pirateer (1976 I'm pretty sure) This seems to be the authoritative community, there's no Pirateer13.org or Facebook group, at least none that I can find. Finding any information about the Pirateer has been disappointing to say the least. The manual is abysmal, and questions ...
