Re: Keel stuck up

I don't understand your photos. Is the first one taken from the side? If so, the axis of the first gear (the one with the handle) shows as vertical. Mine is horizontal

Re: Chrysler 26 water in bilge

Is it coming from the top (rain) or the bottom (sea water)?
If it's rain, I had some coming from the transom around the opening for the engine; and some from the rudder shaft.
I found out by spending a few minutes below the cockpit during a rainfall.

Adding to the mast head. Any lightning protection required?

With my C26 mast down this winter, I plan to add a VHF antenna (I currently have a 6 ft fiberglass whip installed on the aft gunwhale) and an anchor light (strangely enough I now have a white light about 3 ft below the mast head, facing forward; too high to be the steaming light; not 360 degrees the...

Re: Chrysler 26 swing cable tube water flow

My swing keel cable is protected by a tube that goes up almost to the gear, ending with a funnel. IMG_1473.JPG Sometimes there is water on the floor when I sail back to the club, but I don't know where it came from. I sail solo, so I don't see it coming in. I don't think it's from the swing keel cab...

Re: Outboard for C26

Ira, what did you do in the end? I have the same problem now. My Yamaha 9.9 is due for retirement. Since I'd like to use my 1978 C26 for racing, I need to tilt the engine out of the water. Couldn't do that with the Yamaha. I want a 4 stroke. I'm told that all 9.9hp 4 stroke have a big cowling, there...

Re: Rudder Up, Motor Down

I prevent this by squeezing the 'down rudder' line in a cam cleat. See picture

What does a C26 head look like?

I bought a 1978 C26 3 years ago. The bathroom has no head (bowl) nor any holding tank. Just a porta-potty. There is a "waste" metal plug on the port deck and a hose coming down from it going inside the bathroom. That's all the evidence of any previous head. No bolt holes on the floor. I su...

Re: Rudder head broke

This happened to my C26 2 years ago. I believe it is exactly the same part.

This is aluminium. I had it welded and didn't have any problem since.
