I have a late 1960's LS-13 with he same issue. The rail has a slot that accommodates the ridge and is attached using silicone sealant. I have not been able to find a stock source for this rub rail. However, I have located a custom source for extruding a replacement rub rail which is a half oval shap...

The LS-16 looks just like the LS-13 (which I have) in terms of the rub rail. I have located a source for a pretty close replacement rub rail from a custom rubber extrusion company (ExactSeal in Indianapolis), and the preliminary price is $5/foot.
