Re: storm jib

Call Precision Sails. I doubt you need a storm sail. Just a 100 would be good. If it is too windy just use the main reefed only.

Re: Sail trim books

This is an old post, but if anyone is still looking for help on sail trim check out "Sailaway" https://sailaway.world/ . It is about $15.00 I think converts from Euro. The best thing is it tells you what you need to do to make the sails the most efficient. It will also do it for you and ex...

If it has a slider like the 26 just remove the sliders and install two hinges in the front.

I would find out if the water is coming from the top or the (Lake water) in the water or out so to speak. The main water leakage comes from the to rail.

Re: Nesting dinghy

I trashed the alternator idea. It got too expensive, they wanted $1000 just for an alternator that would work and the whole thing was getting to be too big. I went back to just don't go so fast! using a 2500 inverter generator and the 10 amp 60 volt charger. It would be nice to find a small diesel i...

Re: Mast Step Trouble

If your raising it on the trailer, I don't even use the gin pole. I just added a longer steel post to the front of the trailer. I use a roller at that point. I attach a strap just above the gin pole attach point and run a winch cable from that point through the roller to a small electric winch attac...

Getting ready to finish my solar panel rack. I've gone electric! Hoping to get some more sailing in this year. retiring next, maybe this fall. Then it's off to the Gulf, Bahamas and who knows where. I just downloaded Sailaway a virtual sailing program to check out sailing times in real weather and c...

Re: Bought a new sail for my 26 today

I guess even though I gave them the Chrysler documentation for the sail they still need measurements. Does anyone have measurements for a 130 on a Chrysler 26. My mast is down an I would not be able to put it back up until spring.

Bought a new sail for my 26 today

Well I am getting closer to getting my 26 a full set of sails. I took advantage of Precision's Black Friday sale and bought a 400 series 130 Genoa. I saved $200.00. I now have a new main, new 130, used 170. Hopefully before I hit the Gulf I will have the all important Storm Sail. In the spring I hop...

Re: C-22 keel removal how much clearance is needed

You can do it if you jack up the trailer and support it with blocks. Then remove the axles, just roll them out of the way. Of course this depends on your trailer config.

Sounds like you may have had it pumped up too high. If you get rid of it please let me know. By the way my son was killed from a LP heater explosion, (Mr. Heater) far more deadly than alcohol.

Re: stove replacement in my C26

I have a Kenyon pressurized stove and love it. I saw on one of my facebook groups someone had a simple single burner that hooked to a little propane bottle that set into the sink that also converted to a regular two burner stove. So you got three things in one. Looked kinda OK. The problem with prop...

I would be interested to hear how your trip goes. I was in the keys for about two months and had a good time. I was not sailing at the time. I too would like to go to the Dry Tortugas. I have a 26 so if your 22 does good I should have no problem. Watch out for the crab pots! I was in the Marathon an...

I was going by what I was able to do on my boat with less than optimal sails, I now have a new main and soon to have a new 130 or 150. I have not yet used the 170 which is rather newer. Time will tell.

C26 rigging question

I am going to redo my standing rig this winter. This boat was new to me a couple of years ago and when I set it up I just used what was there. There are some irregularities in the setup. All the chainplates are 5/16". The shackles range from 1/4" to 3/8". I would not think that a 3/8&...

Re: C26 Performance?

Depends a lot on upwind downwind or cross wind. I can hit hull speed downwind no problem. On Lake Superior I only had a 100 jib and I could have used more. I now have a 170 I am looking forward to trying. Up wind is not the best performance. In my opinion it is not a racing boat, it is more of a cru...

Highwinds there is more weight on your foot than there is on the toilet flange. It is not supporting more than about 50# and it is twice the area of my shoe.

Re: C26 Mast raising pics

Looks good, I can recommend using PVC pipe and a toilet flange for the support. If you use a 4" on he bottom and insert a 3" inside that you can raise the mast quite high before you start. Just use a bolt through two holes predrilled in the 4" pipe. Then raise the mast by hand with a ...

Re: Motor down, rudder up

Just put a remote on it. It does not have to turn so a simple remote to the cockpit would be an easy fix. Throttle lever that goes forward and reverse. You are going to have trouble with it coming out of the water in rough water though.

Re: Motor down, rudder up

I did the upper Mississippi WI to St Louis on a 28' Triton sailboat with a 6 hp outboard at just an idle. There are a lot of sailboats on the Mississippi places as big as lakes. Depending on which way you go you are also traveling though a large lake. Once you get to the Gulf you are sailing all the...

It is an AC induction motor, "AC Induction Motors with Encoder" you can run it AC or DC. They do not have my motor anymore it was rated at 100 amps for 2 min. It all comes down to heat and how you get rid of it. The whole difference between what I have (Hybrid) and a 10 hp ICE outboard is ...
