I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out as I'm in the process of filling all the stanchion holes in on my boat. They had been a major reason for all the water that was in the boat.

Just curious how it has been sailing her without the stanchions and life lines.

I have the same gaps on mine and while I think you would have stern of the boat flooded to get water through them, I am planning to fiberglass mine in, so that I can keep the bugs from coming into the cabin.

I was thinking of doing something similar to what this guy did on an Alberg 30

It looks like a lot of work, but the space I'm wanting to use is never really accessed for storage any.

I agree that the first stantion exiting the cockpit is a real pain to get around and is why I'm going to leave mine off. Plus that stantion on the port side had been leaking and had caused the deck to become a little soft. My plan is to drill the holes to a half inch, remove as much of the rotten wo...

EE after working on the boat today with the lifelines removed I'm pretty sure that I'm going to leave them off and just fill the holes in. It is so much easier to move around the deck with out them.

Life lines

I took off the stantions and life lines today getting things ready to do repairs. After taking them off I'm thinking about filling the holes and leaving them off, seem like a lot more room on deck. Has anyone else taken theirs off and how well does it work? If I decide to leave them off I'll just us...

So I've been cleaning and disassembling Maverick and have found that compression post in my boat is solid spruce I believe, but I was wondering about making a new post out steel that will not rot.

Mast compression post?

Having seen EE's blog post about the compression post being rotten at the bottom, I was wondering what others are using to replace the wooden post in their boats?

Howdy from the Treasure Coast of Florida!

If you have some cracking around the mast step, you may want to check the compression post, on the C26 it is a poorly made wood post prone to rot.

Hello, I'm new to the forum, but not new to sailing. I've got a Hobie Cat 16 which I am selling. And then there is the Chrysler C26 that my dad has has just given me. It has sat on the trailer for the last 8-9 years collecting rain. Before that I spent a season sailing it in Lake Michigan. The bigge...
