My Starwind 22, same hull design as the Chrysler 22 has no foam anywhere in the boat and it appears to have never had any foam installed from the factory. This got me a bit concerned, thinking maybe I am not in compliance with uscg regulations, so I started doing a little bit of research. My Compac ...

I have a Compac 16, and I have been on a Compac 23. They are great boats, still have factory support for parts and info, but they are tight inside. My 16 is like a coffin inside. The 19 and the 23 are better, but you don't get standing headroom until you get into the Compac 27, but by then it's no l...

There is no one mass producing any of these brackets currently, however, you have 2 options currently. You can find your own local fabrication shop, or you can call Stewart Stainless in Waco, Texas. I recently ordered a set of brackets and pin from Stewart's shop, and they have the templates to make...

It's been a while since I updated. I have been working on the boat, but a back injury really slowed progress to a crawl for a while, plus I've been spending nice days sailing my Compac 16! I had a new set of stainless steel keel pin brackets and pin made that are currently waiting to get installed, ...

After looking at your thread on sailnet and this one, I have serious reservations and believe that there is a very good chance your cradles will fail. OSB is not a structural material and the design does not carry the load onto the vertical 4x4 posts. Also particle board deteriorates when it gets we...

I just spoke with the shop in Waco, they are going to call me back with more info. Anyone seriously interested in having a set made let me know, who knows, maybe he'd be willing to make up a few sets at the same time to keep them available, or maybe a group discount...

I finally got started on making my windows! First, I pulled the interior trim to make a template: http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee514/scotimier/8C30D1E3-9963-439E-9C77-DD96B2093D33-150-0000000E74027866.jpg Then transferred it to some cheap plexiglass I picked up cheap at Home Depot: http://i12...

For fun use bigbluesaw.com. They will laserjet or waterjet cut parts to your design. Use their online designer or use your own CAD to upload a drawing, spec your materials and pay for it. Two weeks later your parts are fedexed to you all done. I've made some aluminum parts using the service and the...

Thanks for the info! I wasn't planning on using the tape method truthfully, my tim...

Were the original keel pin brackets stainless steel?

I am getting ready to replace my keel pin and brackets. I have only found one local fabricator willing to build them out of stainless steel for me, and the price is astronomical. Our fabricator/mechanic at my work is willing to make them for me for just the cost of materials and a case of adult beve...
