I was thinking of doing this very same thing for both my genoa and jib. Partly because the view would be better- and safer. Seems like a simple fix, and worth the pocket change for the change.

White knuckles barely describes the sail on Saturday. I woke up on Sunday and had sore everything from getting knocked around, tight shoulders from pulling line, rope burns on my palms, and a hell of a sunburn to boot. Reefing is in my future! The only way I could manage to get back in was by lettin...

Alan, you've got such a sensible strategy, it's hard not to follow suit. I'll start that list tonight! And Mr. cs3079.... Bruce, right? I do have some basics that certainly need attending too. I've been out sailing every weekend since I bought my lovely. Stripped down, dirty and plenty to wish for, ...

Sailor's Wishlist - Pimp my Boat
I took my very sweet mother sailing yesterday, and as I was rigging up the sails and getting ready, I found myself saying, 'If I had xyz, we could do abc instead.' Simple stuff, mostly. But it got me to wishing...... With my novice sailing skills, what's out there that I don't know about? If you cou...

Very good advice from you all. I suppose I should practice reefing the sail so I can do it while rocking wildly back and forth! I did hit on a temporary idea, and I might try it just to see how it works. A few 75 pound sandbags will give a flavor of what I was thinking about, without any of the perm...

Adding weight in the keel area???
Yesterday was a gorgeous day for sailing. The water was like glass early in the morning, but we powered out through the bridges, and were heading north along the shore in a close reach. I looked back and saw a steady stream of much larger sailboats on the same tack coming up from behind, but we were...

Thanks for this excellent suggestion! Maybe I'll do a little test patch to see how close the color match is, and then go for it. One of the books I have said if you have polyester fiber you use a certain resin, if you have something else, you do it differently..... Do I have to worry about the mater...

I am in beautiful Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. I live just a few blocks from the canal, so I can sail on either Green Bay side or Lake Michigan side, depending on which way the winds blow! Capt Bondo, a fitting name for a boat owner..... Any advice about putty on cracks that are big enough to seep water...

Thanks for that tip. It sounds like a lot of work, but I think there are so many little alligator cracks on the deck, that this is looking like the best option. Speaking of alligator cracks, do you think it acceptable to fill them with epoxy putty, or do I need to remove those sections of fiberglass...

Congrats, Dan! I just bought a C-20 too. Lucky us! I am still figuring my boat out, but here are a few things to check which I know from my previous boat. First, are you in or out of the water? The second time I had the C-20 out, the centerboard never dropped because when I had come in from the firs...

Restoring the shine! Hints for gelcoats?
I bought this little gem of a boat, a Chrysler C-20, sail number 85. It is in pretty good condition on the hull, but the deck is starting to look a little sorry. It's been sitting outside for a while, and starting to get the black mildew spots and a little mossy green growing here and there. I scrub...

C-20 berth pics
Hi Brian, Your boat looks gorgeous! I just bought the same C-20, but mine must have been filled with water at some point, and everything inside has been removed- no cushions, no hatch covers, nada! would you be willing to share more pics of the inside, especially under the cushions? I am trying to f...
