Re: 1976 c22 capacity decal
Hello all. Forgive my possible ignorance, but is this the plate (sticker.) you are referring to? IMG_5988.JPG First line (red printing) reads: Maximum Horsepower Second: Maximum persons capacity (pounds) Third: Maximum weight capacity Persons, motor &. gear (pounds) Disregard if I'm wrong. I jus...

navigation lights
Hey Jeremiah This may shed some light on the issue... (ha)! http://stingysailor.com/2014/08/31/anchor-light-solution/ http://www.westmarine.com/WestAdvisor/Navigation-Light-Rules {edited from OP} (Sorry- read your post too quickly before I replied...) I know this doesn't answer the question, but I w...

Hey Bill- congrats on completing the daunting keel pin task. I think I'll be tackling the job in the spring, and like you, doing it mostly single-handed. Free Ride is now an empty shell- all stripped, de-siliconed and ready for fixing, filling, fairing and painting (topside only this year). It's unb...

Hey Ryan I was contemplating doing the same while looking over the boat during a break- the way I might do it is to fabricate a compartment to fit the dimensions out of Starboard or G10 and epoxy/glass, with a removable clear gasketed window facing aft for inspection and access. I'd like a small acc...

Hey Bill Yeah, I perused most of you videos even before I bought the boat. I had thought of going the route you had gone- a friend had done the same with his boat, but I like the finished look and contrast of having the portlight frame in too much. Another factor at play is that the holes the factor...

Actually...
After giving it some though, I may go with 4200 for the portlights and do the deck hardware with butyl. My reasoning is since the mechanical connection of the portlights is not very strong (screws into the fiberglass being the only real mechanical attachment as opposed to through-bolting with a back...

Butyl Tape
FWIW, I was planning on using Bed-It butyl tape when I get to that stage. I have no affiliation whatsoever, but I read through his methods, and it all seemed pretty logical to me. (Googling Bed-It will bring up a link to a pbase website on rebedding, and a link to his particular brand of butyl). If ...

I was wondering the same thing when I took the rudder off my C22 as well- should there be some kind of lube or not? The socket on mine was dry as a bone with no residue whatsoever from any kind of lube. There was no paint in the socket either, just bare glass with circular scratches on both the hull...

Wow, Thanks, Bill. I didn't know that they had different designs- I just figured that the boat had run aground at some point, or perhaps was a victim of yard rash... and was fixed this way. The inner liner is cracked aft of the post, though, so there must have been some mishap in it's life. There wa...
