Dang that Vang!

Chris, I saw a C-22 that had a boom-vang, and it made me wonder if my boat was missing something, because I'm exactly where you're at: a ring at the bottom of the mast... Another "tell" is to look at the bottom-side of your boom. Mine is clean, but the C-22 with the boom-vang had attachmen...

I think you're into the "do it right rule": I wouldn't just "fill-in" with silicone, I'd find out what's really wrong. Clearly it was a home-spun fix. Ideas: A. Maybe there is a bone-yard with Chryslers/ or a Chrysler out there somewhere that would let you have, or obtain origina...

Felix, Do NOT be discouraged, but measure what you really want out of your boat. If you want it to be super-spiffy, then the long-haul route is the way to go {if you use the fiberglass method I described, keep in mind, that cutting the top out will damage the structural integrity of the boat... you ...

Felix, Whew! That sir is a heady topic, and you're in for a treat! I bought my son a 1984 18' Hobie Catamaran, and delamination IS the conversation. It turns out that the top decks of the Catamaran are what give (a pontoons) structural rigidity. When they delaminate, then it is completely possible t...

Well! I too admit to a learning curve from this post... I watched a Catalina 22 raise their mast on the water in a Youtube video (mouth agape!). A good job was done, and I could certainly see the utility in that method now. I also noted he pushed that mast up with one hand... THAT ain't happenin' wi...

Wow! From my experience, hoisting a C22 mast while in the water seems quite dangerous! Is this a law/ ordinance, or lake regulation? I don't even see how you can do it, honestly. First, someone must raise the far end of the mast to hook it into the mast step finger. Unless you have it hinged? Whenev...

Back stay adjuster: First, think of your sailboat as a kite, instead of just a boat... There are a million alternatives to adjusting your kite string, and that's half the (challenging) fun of it! Seems legit! I like the idea, especially if you can pinch the 2x4 onto your wire. Excellent idea... Then they can use body weight to easily add pressure.

Side-stay help

!!! All advice welcome !!! My C-22 has... well, "not tight" side-stays. They're not completely loose mind you, but they should likely be a little tighter than they are. Here's the problem: the owner before me buggered up and bent the adjustable clasps that tie the stays to the deck of the ...

Hey all, My C22 sail compliment is a new Main, and a new 110% Jib. By and large, they're great stuff (Yay Sail Warehouse!). I asked a poll question a couple of posts back, but no one really replied. Mud sucking bottom dweller

    I feel for ya ! don't go breaking your swing-keel cable or anything.... you're simply dealing with the suction from the mud around the keel, and that turns into many hundreds of pounds of glue-like adhering forces. Thundergod (and Mrs. Thunderness-ess) Trailer: Once you deal with the keel-pin brackets (and this is no small chore, but quite necessary), you can fairly quickly sand and paint the bottom, and I would then encourage you to find a slip, or mooring somewhere. I've been hearing about the disaster that is the west coast... Cali drought, Alaskan fires, and now an algae plume that is costing the Washington and Oregon fishing industries 9 million a month in lost commerce...
Did you see any algae/ big changes on your trip?
