Base of Mast and Dwyer hinge

Two seasons ago I broke my elbow when my mast mount let go while stepping the mast. I was thrown into the air and landed on the dock superman style, both hands down. Thought I tucked and rolled but instead I shattered my radial on my left arm. Now I am attempting to make the repairs. I got a stainle...

I think we need to factor the size or the amount of coastline into the calculations. RI with 5 corrected for size would be a good representation.

I have also seen a trick using a strip of cloth tied to your wire harness and a vacum at one end of the mast. The cloth is pulled through by the vacum...it worked better than expected.

I am very interested in how to modify my main halyard. I picked up the self-furling jib this year. It is always good to hear and "SEE" what others have done. Especially when they would have done it different!!!

I got through the season by placing a bilge pump in the fwd settee. The wife wouldn't sail with me in my unsafe vessel, but I got some sailing done. The boat is on blocks with the keel hanging. Hope to get it off soon and get the keel sand blasted and re-epoxied. The swing keel pin needs to be pulle...

My goal is to get to the point were I stop being a shipwright and become a true sailor. Well maybe a true sailor needs to be a shipwright. All I know for sure is I have a lot more work this winter than the sailing I did this summer. Damn that keel pin assembly!

Keel Pin

Last call for keel pin assembly. Just wondering if anyone has a drawing to reference that I could get some prices on. If not, I will pull what ever is left on mine and go from there. I did find a local company to redo my keel. Still need to bring it in for a final price. The goal is to sand blast it...

I have a fluke style anchor with the same type of hooks for mounting. I have a plastic covered chain and my anchor line runs through a anchor line fitting. My line sits in the opening at the head of the berthing. Overall it does the job, but some issues: 1) the mounts have let my anchor fall in roug...

I sail like I ride my motorcycle, everyone and everything will kill you if you let them. Keep your head on a swivel and remember, your vessel goes into the air, "Look Up!"

Glad to hear all are OK, did you put the island in the dark?

Just checked the boat and it looks fine. I am glad I pulled everything out including the outboard. Had a little water centerline but it wasn't much. I think I will pull it for the season and try to get a head start on the keel pin repair.

Thanks for the inputs on what to do.

I have a thru hull fitting on the port side about 12" off the rail. It is just forward of the cockpit. I put a check valve about 6" from the pump and it seems to work well.

It is hard at the beginning, but soon she will rather be at school with her friends than home with you. Then after you think she has forgotten you, you get to go to the graduation and see what a great young lady you have as a daughter. That first weekend alone is hard. But the week of graduation is ...

Making Ready for the storm

1. Be sure to pull all your sails and bring them home, don't leave them on the vessel. 2. Double all lines and if able try to go in all four directions. I am unable to so I only have three. Use spring lines. Tie off all bitter ends of rope. Use some hose on the lines were they may chaff. At 50 -100 ...

Has anyone built a replacement galley for the slide out? Last year I was hoping to design and build a galley but was overcome by life! This off-season looks like I will be working the hull (I have a bad keel pin assembly leak). But I would like to design the galley on the very cold nights. Who has s...

I will be pulling my C22 soon to redo the pin assembly. I hope there is enough material to use to draw a proper CAD to get some pricing locally. If all goes well, I will share my drawing. If the parts are really bad, we might need to see who has an old hull sitting in the grass somewhere.

C22 Swing Keel Assembly

I too am lucky enough to have to replace my C22 swing keel pin assembly. Does anyone have good drawings that a machinist can use to build a set? Or does anyone still have a stainless steel set to sell? The leaking around the assembly has been stopped by epoxy, but the Mrs. won't return to sea with a...
