My C-22 winches/cleats are exactly like Gus'. That must be the way that they came from the factory. A previous owner must not have liked the way that the line crossed itself on the starboard side, so a cam cleat was installed outboard of the stock cleat.

Good eye, Patrick. I picked my January/February issue. It looks like it has some good ideas!

Positioning the car is pretty simple on the C-22. I have four 1/4 diameter inch pins in the holes in the traveler, and I move the car into position by hand and pin it on both sides. I have no difficulty doing this as long as I move the boom with one hand and the car with the other. I anticipate the ...

I spent the last winter restoring a C-22. I would sure appreciate it if you could post copies of your documentation here. Most of the restoration and sailing that I have done is by instinct...I sure would like to know if I am doing it right!!

Thanks,
Mike

Mine has a 2001 Johnson 9.9 20" long shaft. I thought about a lower horsepower unit, but I am convinced that a 3000 pound boat needs the 9.9. I think that some of the lighter 22' trailerables could get away with a smaller motor, like a 5hp.

I just re-rigged mine using 3/16 dacron. I used a standard stopper knot, but I slipped a 1/4" stainless flat washer on ahead of the knot before I pushed it back into the hole in the rudder.

I fixed mine using 1/8" starboard. It works great!
