1976 Chrysler 22 "Blues Image" for Sale

The time has come to part with my C22. I've owned this boat since 2009. Boat is full of custom woodworking, including wood companionway doors with screens/panels. VHF radio with interior and exterior speakers, AM/FM stereo with two speakers outside and two inside, compass, automatic bilge pump, all ...

I will certainly follow up once I get back. Thank you for the reply. I did read somewhere online where a C22 has made the trip before.

Sailing in the Keys

Hi: It's been quite awhile since I have been on here. I'm planning on taking Blues Image down to Marathon or somewhere in November, barring hurricanes, and sailing her for a week or so. Weather permitting, I may try to go to the Dry Tortugas. Has anyone on the forum done any sailing in this area? Ha...

Re: NC Sailors

Gus: I don't mean to hijack this thread, but how does your C22 do on the Pirate Sail? I was in Beaufort in early October, (several years ago, on my C22) and started out the inlet to head toward Cape Lookout. I made it to the Queen Anne's Revenge buoy before chickening out. To my untrained eye, the w...

Re: C22 Window Question

But, per your suggestion, I will attempt to remove the outer frames carefully. Someone else may need them at some point. C22 Bob, didn't I give you the mast hook from my boat after I installed a mast hinge? Or was that someone else? I took Blues Image to the Outer Banks several years ago, and I hope...

Re: C22 Window Question

Thank you for the replies. I don't plan to use the original frame, but rather use the 3M VHB tape method. I hope to make some mahogany trim for the inside. I've thought long and hard about Wiley windows, but that would necessitate filling the gap between the hull and inner liner with epoxy and wrapp...

C22 Window Question

I know many of you have replaced the port lights (windows). I am about to do the same, and I need to order the acrylic prior to removing the port lights since the boat is outside in the weather. This is my question: Is the window cut out on the outside of the boat the same dimensions as the cut out ...

I have raised and lowered the mast on my C22 in the water on several occasions when I was trying to limit the time spent in the launch ramp parking area. As others have posted, caution must be exercised, and a weather eye directed for incoming boat wakes. Otherwise, it is no more difficult than rais...

I have 3/8" braided nylon lines on mine. I have them run through two pieces of 3/4" electrical conduit about four inches long to act as handles. The handles are marked as to which is "up" or "down". There is a cam cleat on the tiller that secures the lines in the desire...

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the mast hinge. It was pricey, about $100.00 with shipping, but worth every penny. It gives you complete control over the mast. Without it, the mast continues to fall over the rear pushpit rail into the water. I welded on a polyurethane bow roller on my pushpit rail, and...

Bill: I would definitely keep the shelves. They are the closest thing you can reach from the cockpit. I keep my wallet, cellphone, GPS, binoculars, signal horn- well, you get the idea. If you search my name, there is a post from 2009 where I described how to repair that mast base. I took a piece of 1/8" stainless strap, drilled some holes in it, and wrapped it around the mast base securing it with four 1/4" stainless stove bolts. I drilled a 5/8" hole for the mast p...

As far as what they are for, they do two things. First of all, they trim out the huge holes in the lazarette for draining any cockpit water. Secondly, they screen out items which you may have rolling about but don't want to go into the deep. My boat also had trim rings on the exterior, which I repla...

New Cockpit Scuppers

Since I check the forum daily, and not much is happening lately, I thought I would throw something out there. My old cockpit scupper screens were brittle plastic, and broken in several places. Now I know I sound like a broken record, but I love to use HDPE to make all kinds of things on the boat. Af...

The previous owner of my C22 made a really nice triangular shaped (from the side view) cover with screen on three sides. This covers the entire hatch lid, and when the hatch is open, the three open sides are screened. It has weighted edges on all four sides, so no snaps, ties, or zippers are needed....

I used a 1/4 x 20 stainless bolt connecting a piece of HDPE material to the aluminum angle you can see in the picture. The HDPE plastic is very slippery and it is cut to fit inside that track. There is one on each end of the galley. You can also see two of the four black HDPE slides that are screwed...

Someone on the forum posted some dimensions and I built my galley based on those. I scored a brass galley pump at Sailor's Exchange in St. Augustine and plumbed it via a flexible hose to a 13 gallon collapsible water bladder stored under the cockpit. It works great and holds all the water I need for...

Yes, I think so. I have sailed mine in 20+ winds with 35 mph gusts before. That is, of course, an interesting little bit of sailing, and I don't recommend it. 10 to 15 mph is ideal in my book. If you are sailing in winds higher than 10-15, you should have one hand on your mainsheet to spill wind any...

The only weather helm I ever have is when I have the main up but not the head sail. Previous posts have dealt with sails, but the swing keel may also be part of the equation. I generally lower the keel all the way, and then crank it back up four or five turns on the winch. This will move the balance...
