Tohatsu Outboard Fixed
In case someone else runs into this problem with a new or recent 6hp Tohatsu 4 stroke outboard, here is the problem and solution. It ran perfect for a few weeks then it started running rough and would not idle. The short answer is that the pilot jet was plugged with flakes of black paint! After ...

Thanks For The Info
I had one other question. Do you think adding roller furling is worth it? I am usually sailing solo. Thanks for the feedback on the sails. I will check these sources out.

Best Place to Order 150 Genoa for C22
I need a standard hank on Genoa 150 for a Chrysler 22. I found a price of $695 at The Sail Warehouse, but Probably some guys here know of a place with better prices. Can anyone suggest a place or two to check out?
Thanks,
Carl

New Headsail for 1978 C22
Hi Folks,
sorry to bring up again a topic that has been discussed a lot, but I would really appreciate your advice. I want to buy a 155 genoa for my C22. I only have a 110 right now and in the summer when the winds are slack on my lake the 155 would be a big help.

Bottom Paint! Too Many Choices!
I found a website with some details on bottom painting:

Thanks for the replies, they will help. Now I just got to decide what to paint it with! At least I don't have barnacles to worry about on our lake!

More Information
I should also say that there is no paint on it now. I am guessing that waxing with a marine-grade was after cleaning will be best? Also, with the boat sitting on the trailor, what is the best way to raise the boat a little to get to the hull now hidden behind the bunk boards? All newby questions ...

Cleaning C22 Bottom
I pulled my C22 after a year in a marina slip and brought it home for cleaning and maintenance. Is there anything I need to do to the hull other than just scrup it down and get the scum off? The boat is used only in a fresh water lake in central TX. Any kind of paint needed on it?

Pop Top
My 22 has a pop top but I never raise it. It might be a useful thing if you used the galley and cooked in the cabin. I also have a small leak somewhere around the pop top area that is hard to find. Maybe it was more oa a marketing feature than a practical one.

Solar Cells On a C22
This is a dumb question, but where is the best place to mount a solar cell array like this Sunsei unit? It seems like it would be in the way almost anywhere on the boat. Where do some of you guys mount yours?
Thanks for letting us know about it. It is a heck of a good deal.

Yes that helps. I have reefed once but did it wrong. After looking at how jiffy reefing is supposed to be set up, I have all the hardware on the boom. The strap eye, small block and jam cleat are there. All I need are two pieces of dacron line.

4 HP Mercury 2 Stroke
I have a ten year old Mercury 4 HP two stroke outboard that works ok. It pushes my C22 at about 5 mph. Heeling on C22
Well, wife and I just got back from a morning sail on our 78 C22. We are still relative newbies and still learning the ropes. The wind was gusting to about 14 or maybe 16. I had only the main sail up, no reef. My question is about the heeling on the C22. How far is normal in gusty conditions, and ...

My Boom Modified Too
Since a precious owner had modified my boom and there was no longer a hole for the 5/8 pin, I used a piece of 2x4 the same length. I drilled a 5/8 hole in one end and made a 3 inch pin from a bolt, like Scott did. The other end of the 2x4 has two eyebolts facing opposite sides. You might think that ...

Tomorrow is the big day. I bought my 1978 C22 last January and tomorrow will be the first time in the water. This will also be my first time to solo sail. It was 92 degrees here today in Texas.
Happy Sailing,

Length of Jib Sheets?
Can anyone tell me how long their jib sheets are? I am almost ready to put my C22 in the water tomorrow and need to make the jib sheets. The rigging on my boat is apparently unchanged from the factory standard. My jib is a standard size 100%.

Carl

Missing Gooseneck Piece On C22
I would like to ask a favor. I am missing a small part that goes in the gooseneck assembly. The boom has a clevis, and the mast also has a clevis, and apparently there is a small metal block that goes in between. I am missing the small metal block part.
