Sula for sale, price lowered to $4000.

Hey All, I'm just letting everyone know that Ive lowered the price of Sula to $4000 for a quick sale. She still has all the gear used for my Mexico expedition for the next owner. I'm leaving Arizona now that I'm done with school and she needs to go. http://www.chryslersailors.com/discussion/viewtopi...

Our last in the Sea of Cortez we had 20+ Kts wind from our stern with tall and steep wind waves... We hit 9 Kts surfing down the face of several of the waves. There were only a few times I was scared enough to hand steer, the rest of the time the autopilot steered us true. I was pretty impressed wit...

Sula for Sail... See my ad in the classifieds.

Hello All, My Sea of Cortez project was a total success, we arrived safely back in the States on December 9th. Sula saw us through some rough weather safely and in relative comfort. Unfortunately I now need to pay off student loans and hopefully recover some of the money from my senior project. Im p...

Spreaders

I used the style E base and the 2550 spreader on my C22. I could not be happier with the fit. Put the money that you would pay someone to glob some weld on there into the dwyer setup, you will not be disappointed. I used heavy stainless rivets to mount them. Just be super aware of the angles involve...

keel height

I just replaced my hardware last week, it takes 29 inches vertical clearance from the bottom of the keel to the bottom of the hull. Keep in mind thats a minimum... We did it with the boat on the trailer with block and tackle stabilization systems with a floor jack. I cant recommend that method, a li...

I second Pete,
They're only for the tack of the sail, and either a jiffy reefing system or just a piece of line left in the grommet for the clew.

also check here for full jiffy reefing system info.

Its funny, Ive been thinking about exactly that for the past few weeks. I think welding up an aptly sized keel, filling it with concrete or led, possibly adding a wing or fatty bulb on the bottom of the keel?!?!? I think using the existing keel pin or ripping that out and putting a good sized throug...

A half decent digital multimeter from radioshack will make your electrical endeavors much more enjoyable. Make sure they have sharp ends to poke through the wire sheath, that way you can test wires midway through, not just at the ends. check for power with the multimeter at the connection at the mas...

I replaced the original ports on my c-22 with opening ports from a company called New Found Metals. Bow rollers

Has anybody mounted an anchor/rode roller on their bow? Im thinking about trying to mount two rollers, one on either side of the forestay for anchor storage and for the rode to ride in while anchored. Im trying to get some more weight foward to balance her heavy stern.

I actually finalized the sizing before I read your post. I decided on 3"x8". Although I should explain what I mean by external chainplates. I am going to leave my shrouds where they are now but I'm going to anchor them down to the hull...about 15 inches down. At that point the anchor will...

Chainplates

My inclination would be to have narrower but longer plates. 1.5-2 inches wide and 12-16 inches long with nice backing plates should do the trick. Look into previous posts about backstay reinforcements. Also, someone posted some information 2 months ago about losing upwind performance with outboard c...

Alan, Ive read a story about it online somewhere. I talked to a guy in AZ whos friend had gotten half way to Hawaii in his C26 before the rudder folded in half. It seems to me like any boat without a keel hung or full skeg hung rudder should have atleast one back-up rudder system for that reason. Pe...

Im about to do a 2 month trip in the Sea of Cortez complete with 80 mile open water crossings in my C22. These boats have sailed to Hawaii before basically stock. Just make sure all the systems are good, chainplates, rudder and keel pivot especially.
