Re: Chrysler 26 water in bilge
I had water in the bilge coming from the rear of the keel . It must have grounded at some time and the glass was very thin there. I found the leak when the boat was on the trailer and there was a wet spot that was weeping. That was a quick fix. I also had water on the sole that was coming in through...

Re: T-26 Hull construction / upkeep
Interesting boat, I see similarities to the C26. Rudder looks the same, keel also. Does it have a 2 piece iron shoe at the toe of the stub keel containing the pin for the swing keel? Ballast was a concrete/ lead buckshot mix on the C26. Is that damage at the rear of the fixed keel? C26 hull was not ...

Re: C26 May have found the leak
I agree with brigadoon, caulking there is fine for fairing but not likely to stop any water intrusion. Where does your water show up? Just in the bilge? Or is it appearing on the floor beside the keel trunk?

Re: Mast Step Trouble
another fix would be to modify the base of the gin pole to straddle the mast. It could be held in place with velcro straps or ratchet straps. This is a very common practice and works well. I use a dedicated gin pole on my 26 but it doesn't get set in place until all lines are in place to support it ...

Here's a pic of the area in question. You can see how little room there is down there with the aft end of the keel trunk. I have a little Rule pump (seen on the left side) that sits down there mounted on an aluminum plate to keep it in place.

take a good look at the keel trunk, looks like something's going on there. check for cracking at rear of trunk indicating a dropped keel - repairable. looks like the sole has been opened up into the bilge. keel weighs 900lb., can be awkward to move around can't expect much for $750., if it was close...

Cool pics - did you have any issues getting the bolts out of the keel shoe ? I always wonder about the nuts to receive the bolts, and where they are - guess they dropped something like a plate in place before they did the ballast pour or something.. First bolt I tried wouldn't move, in fact I ended...

yeah, 45degrees would have been nice, I had my doubts about the way I did it but I wanted to keep the whole beam between the posts clear for hoisting and to go to 45 degrees on the outside would have required longer beams. Before loading the rig, the fore and aft was rock solid, but sideways had abo...

took some pics of the frames I built to lift my 26 along with pics of dropping the keel to facilitate repair of the keel trunk after a hard grounding (in my driveway- don't ask!)

Took mine off to do the through deck holes properly. I have left them off so far and sailed with them off in September. Moving around is easier, especially leaving the cockpit - that first one is in a terrible place and I often found myself losing balance when trying to step passed it! It seems to m...

Well . . just watched your video and the good news is with that much water staying inside you should have no problem keeping the lake outside!!! All kidding aside, you've got some work to do - clean up will make a big difference and leaks should be easy to find !! Galley is junk, I tore mine out rig...

Chrysler 26 weight? UPDATE
Does anyone have a definitive answer to this question? I'm too far from a scale to do a loaded and then unloaded weight comparison, regretfully I've never even done a loaded measurement! I know the brochure weight is 5000# but those figures are often inaccurate. My trailer is rated at 6800# and I'm ...

It's pretty brief, but at 2:05 you can catch 'Messing About' resting on her mooring.
