That most certainly is a better way however I did not have space enough on this boat to slip it up inside. It also would conflict with the locking mechanism. The docs on chrysler lizard site lead me to believe the dimensions were much closer that than. Guess the best thing is to measure mine. Since the mast is up it will be easy to do.
